Jim Acosta, the troubled CNN reporter traveled to the border and declared where there was a wall, there was no dire situation. No immigrants climbing the wall, in fact, there was no one at all.
In his review of the situation at the southern border, Jim Acosta obviously didn't think his story through before he reported on it:
“Here are some of the steel slats that the president’s been talking about,” says Acosta “But as we’re walking along here, we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger.” he went on to say, there were no immigrants at that wall trying to rush it.
I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today. pic.twitter.com/KRoLdszLUu— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) January 10, 2019
Sarah Sanders tweeted to him saying:
When I went with President @realDonaldTrump to the border today I never imagined @Acosta would be there doing our job for us and so clearly explaining why WALLS WORK. Thanks Jim! https://t.co/7wC4rdEsZ2— Sarah Sanders (@PressSec) January 10, 2019
The comments on his tweet ranged from:
It's "pretty tranquil" BECAUSE IT'S PROTECTED BY THE WALL, you unbelievable fool.— Jeff Faria (@PatriotsOfMars) January 10, 2019
I’m no immigration expert but maybe they’re trying to immigrate at border locations that don’t have giant steel slats. Just a thought Jim but seriously, keep up the great work. This is great reporting. Can’t fix stupid— Matty (@grandparhodes) January 10, 2019
